Smoke Rated

Control Smoke at the Riser. Before It Reaches the Escape Route.

Smoke moves faster than fire. If it escapes from a service shaft, corridors and stairs fill quickly. Our smoke rated riser doors slow that movement and protect escape routes. Tested to BS EN 1634-3:2004 with fire + smoke combination options available.

Our smoke rated riser doors are engineered to limit smoke leakage at riser openings on protected routes. They are often combined with fire rating, so one doorset does the work of several components. Each door features perimeter smoke seals designed into the frame and leaf for reliable containment under fire conditions.

Smoke Rated Riser Door FAQ

Everything you need to know about specifying, ordering and installing smoke rated riser doors.

A smoke rated riser door is a steel doorset designed and tested to limit the passage of cold smoke through vertical service risers. It uses specialised smoke seals and intumescent strips around the perimeter to contain smoke within the shaft and prevent it migrating into corridors and escape routes during a fire event.
Our smoke rated riser doors are tested to BS EN 1634-3:2004, the European standard for smoke control for door and shutter assemblies. Formal test reports are supplied with every order.
Yes. We offer combined fire and smoke rated riser doors. This means a single doorset provides both fire resistance and smoke containment, simplifying your specification and reducing the number of products needed on site. Combined doors are tested to both (fire) and BS EN 1634-3:2004 (smoke).
Smoke rated riser doors are available in single, double, and multi-door configurations to suit your structural openings. Standard and bespoke sizes are manufactured to order. All custom sizes maintain the same smoke and fire performance as standard units and are supplied with full certification.
Standard smoke rated riser doors are manufactured and delivered within 3 to 5 working days from our UK facility in Nuneaton. There are no import delays. For large volume or project-specific orders, contact us for a confirmed lead time.
Yes. We manufacture bespoke smoke rated riser doors to your exact dimensions and specification, with a choice of lock types, frame profiles, and finishes.
