Non-Fire Rated Riser Doors

Standard Service Access.
Without the Fire Penalty.

Not every service shaft penetrates a compartment line. Where a fire rating isn't required, our non-fire rated R57 and R53 riser doors deliver the same UK-manufactured build quality at a more competitive price point — 3-5 day lead times, made to measure up to 2400×1000mm.

Lead Time

Riser doors provide service access to vertical mechanical, electrical and plumbing shafts. Where the shaft does not form part of a fire compartment line, a non-fire rated door is the appropriate specification — saving cost while still delivering the same robust steel construction, three-point locking and finish options as our fire-rated R51 range. Manufactured in the UK with 3-5 day lead times.

Steel Riser Doors for Non-Compartmented Shafts

Same UK-manufactured build quality as our fire-rated R51 range, without the intumescent seal cost. Picture frame, beaded frame and plasterboard options up to 2400×1000mm.

When non-fire rated is the right call

Service shafts that do not cross a compartment line, plant rooms in single-tenancy buildings, secondary access doors in non-protected areas, and any application where the project fire strategy confirms no rating is required.

Same build, no fire penalty

1.2mm thick door leaf, 1.5mm thick frame, 3-point locking system, spring-pin hinge — identical mechanical specification to our R51 fire-rated range, without the intumescent seals and the cost they carry.

Common questions

The fire strategy for the building tells you. Service shafts that pass through compartment walls or floors must have fire-rated access. Shafts wholly within a single compartment — typically plant rooms, secondary risers in single-tenancy spaces — usually do not. Your fire engineer or Building Control will confirm.
Typically 20-30% lower on the door alone, depending on size and configuration. The bigger saving comes from no intumescent-seal install, no fire test certificate paperwork, and no compartmentation sign-off requirement. Ask for a quote with both options if you're unsure.
Yes. Our non-fire rated R57 and R53 doors use the same Zintec steel and 1.2mm/1.5mm thickness as the fire-rated R51 range. The only differences are the omission of intumescent seals and the absence of fire-test certification.
Yes. 3-point locking, polyester powder coat in any RAL colour, single or double doors — the full spec menu is available on non-fire rated as on fire rated.
