Access panels are typically smaller units designed to provide maintenance access through walls, ceilings and floors. They are available with hinged, removable or cam-lock openings. Riser doors are larger, full-height or half-height doors designed for service risers and plant cupboards, providing walk-through or reach-in access to concealed building services. Both are available with fire ratings up to 120 minutes.

If the product is being installed in a fire-rated wall, ceiling or floor, then yes — it must achieve the same fire performance as the surrounding construction. Building Regulations Approved Document B requires that any penetration through a fire compartment maintains the fire resistance of that element. Common requirements include 30 minutes for residential partition walls, 60 minutes for corridors and escape routes, and up to 120 minutes for high-risk areas such as plant rooms and service risers.

A loft hatch provides access to the roof void or loft space above a property. They are installed in ceiling openings and are available in hinged drop-down or push-up designs. Fire-rated loft hatches are required where the ceiling forms part of a fire compartment — for example, in flats, apartments and HMOs. A meter overbox is an enclosure that sits over a recessed gas or electric meter, providing a neat, secure and fire-rated cover. They are typically required in communal areas of flats and apartments where meters are installed in walls. Our meter overboxes are available with fire ratings up to 120 minutes and are manufactured to fit standard meter box sizes.
